Atmospheric / Topographic Correction for Satellite Imagery ( ATCOR - 2 / 3 User Guide , Version 8 . 2 BETA , February 2012 )

چکیده

2 The cover image shows a true color subset of a Landsat-7 ETM+ scene with lake Constance at the Austrian-German-Swiss border (top left), acquired 2 June 2000. The top right image is the atmospherically corrected scene employing a haze removal over land and water. The haze removal over water is one of the new features of the 2011 release. The bottom part presents a zoomed view. The water mask is derived from the DEM file of this scene, because a unique water classification with exclusively spectral criteria is not possible in this scene. A correct water/land mask is critical for the quality of the separate haze removal algorithms over land and water.

Comparison between Flaash and Atcor Atmospheric Correction Modules on the Basis of Worldview-2 Imagery and in Situ Spectroradiometric Measurements

Highly fragmented landscape, small plots and ownerships, as well as the undulated topography of Crete cause a challenge for land use/cover mapping via the satellite imageries. Both the enhanced spectral and spatial resolution of WorldView-2 satellite sensor is expected to increase the discrimination potential of the classification process. Field spectroradiometric measurements were acquired usi...

On the Atmospheric Correction of Antarctic Airborne Hyperspectral Data

The first airborne hyperspectral campaign in the Antarctic Peninsula region was carried out by the British Antarctic Survey and partners in February 2011. This paper presents an insight into the applicability of currently available radiative transfer modelling and atmospheric correction techniques for processing airborne hyperspectral data in this unique coastal Antarctic environment. Results f...

Topographic Correction for Differential Illumination Effects on Ikonos Satellite Imagery

The problem of differential terrain illumination on satellite imagery has been investigated for at least 20 years and has not been solved satisfactorily. Most past research has been conducted on Landsat imagery where the look angle is nadir. There is no research on topographic correction of IKONOS imagery, which has a higher spatial resolution. The high spatial resolution of IKONOS imagery requ...

Geo-atmospheric processing of airborne imaging spectrometry data Part 2: atmospheric / topographic correction

A method for the radiometric correction of wide field-of-view airborne imagery has been developed that accounts for the angular dependence of the path radiance and atmospheric transmittance functions to remove atmospheric and topographic effects. The first part of processing is the parametric geocoding of the scene to obtain a geocoded, orthorectified image and the view geometry (scan and azimu...

Practical Illumination Correction of Satellite Imagery in Consideration of Anisotropic Skylight Component

In satellite images over rugged terrain, we can find some topographic effect entangled with atmospheric effects [1]. Without correcting these effects, it is difficult to evaluate the satellite images for land cover classification or multi-temporal monitoring of natural environment. Iikura[2] derived a unified simple correction formula (DN − B)/(cosβ + C) from a physical model of signal detected...
